Health 411 is a weekly health show hosted by Estefani Zamorano. On this week’s episode, Estefani speaks with Pierce College Health Director Beth Benne about HIV/AIDS Awareness Week that will be taking place on campus from Monday, March 23 through Thursday, March 26. Estefani and Benne discuss how HIV/AIDS testing is ordinarily done on campus, how it will be different during HIV/AIDS Awareness Week and some common misconceptions about how HIV is spread.

Benne also offers advice to anyone who tests positive for HIV.

 

Students and staff will be able to find the RV in which the testing is done in Parking Lot 1 in the faculty section along the red curb parallel to the mall.

 

Tests will be available during the following times:
Monday, March 23 and on Thursday March 26, BIENESTAR and AIDS Healthcare Foundation will offer testing from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25, the organizations will be on campus from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The X’s and O’s of the Game is a sports talk show hosted by Luis Ayala. On today’s episode, Luis interviews small forward and shooting guard Malik Johnson from the Pierce College basketball team. Luis and Johnson discuss the team’s disappointing end to the season as well as the adversity Johnson and his teammates had to overcome. The Memory Dump is a weekly talk show co-hosted by Casey Spencer of the Pierce College Robotics Club and Simon Tutak about emerging science and new tech gadgets. On this episode, Casey and Simon discuss the features and specs of the new Apple iWatch and it’s drawbacks; a new MacBook which is lighter and thinner than the MacBook Air; and a new cell phone called “Runcible” created by Monohm, which is being touted as a different type of smart phone that won’t take you out of your element. They also discuss Mars One, a supposed non-profit organization that claims it’s raising money to put the first human colony on the planet Mars as well as some of the major issues plaguing the Snapdragon 810 HTC One M9 smartphone.
