Jose interviews Jeff Herriott, who is a professor of music at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Jeff talks about how he started learning music early in his youth, and how his mother influenced him play piano. He explains how composing has always been an interest in his life, and how he started teaching as a career. Jeff shares a few songs from of his metal band Realmbuilder, while talking about the origins of the group. He also mentions that he and the members of his band create music simply for the love of it.

In the studio Monday, Music from the Underground heard a live performance from Holland Greco with drummer “Princess” Frank and upright bassist Michael Papillo. The band spoke about their musical influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to Missy Elliot to Gypsy rock.

100 Proof, Stuck! and Butterflies, songs from Holland’s set list, can be found on her first solo EP, Tunnel Vision.

Music from the Underground – Culprit

Music From the Underground premiered yesterday with an acoustic performance and interview from Culprit. Topics ranging from band goals to what “underground” means were discussed.

Culprit played six songs, two of which were new ones from their forthcoming album out some time this summer.

They’re semi-finalists in Emergenza (European and North American festival for emerging bands) and their show will be Saturday, May 15 at the Joint in Beverly Hills.
