James is currently a California State University Northridge Academic Advisor who lives in Porter Ranch. James discusses the challenges he faced growing up in South Central Los Angeles. He talks about being bussed into Monroe High School through the L.A.U.S.D. Permit with Transportation program. He talks about how the experienced opened more opportunities for his personal growth.

James says, “You are not on anybody else’s path. Your timing is your own time.”

She mentions the challenges of being a full-time student, while working full-time. Victoria explains that it’s important for students to ask for help to succeed. She says that there are several resources available on campus at CSUN.

On this episode Malena talks with Adrián Pérez, who is a Spanish professor at California State University Northridge. En su lengua nativa (his native tongue) He talks about the importance of Spanish is in our community. He explains the differences in the American and European education systems. Adrián discuses the various languages offered in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at CSUN, and the different cultures he teaches. He also shares his history as an educator, while talking about his journey to become a professor.

On this episode Lupe interviews the Lucy Lee, who the head instructor of the Project DATE program at California State University Northridge. The program focuses on sexual assault prevention on university and college campuses. Lucy talks about her history as a student., and how she became active in the peer counseling community. She shares the importance of assault prevention, the most recent incidents at CSUN,  and how the program assists students in the community.

Team reporters conduct multiple interviews creating Club Profiles that feature the student-run clubs on campus. In this profile Nahal Tagavi features the Child Development Club. Tanisha Saunders the club’s president talks about the reasons why the club started, her ideas for the club, and the need on campus. Shoshona Gattidge the club’s co-adviser discusses the need to network with the similar clubs at California State University Northridge to assist students with transferring. Lila Snow, who is a full-time professor in the department, and the other co-adviser for the club mentions how important it is for students to connect with professionals in the field. She also encourages students to graduate and/ or transfer to University.
