Matthew Avery Berg is a director & filmmaker residing in Los Angeles who began directing student films on the Universal backlot when he was in the fifth grade. Matthew directed “Accomplice,” a sci-fi short that included 30+ cast & crew members. “Marked” is Matthew’s most recently completed short about the impossible feat of moving on from the past starring veteran actor Eric Roberts.

Getting a job in Hollywood is very hard and competitive. It’s all about who you know in the industry and not what you know. Today’s guest is Kate Surinskaya, who is from Russia and based in LA. She’s a SAG-eligible actress, screenwriter, and director. Kate has worked on many independent films. One of the independent films she’s worked on is called “Parallels,” the story of a teenager in suburban Russia fights for the approval of her working-class parents in pursuit of her dream to become an actress but has to face another battle when she finds out her mom is terminally ill.

Janae is a screenwriter, producer, director, and production coordinator. One of the films she’s worked on is called “Managed,” which follows a high strung talent manager named Susana Feinstein who overcomes her clienteles existential crises, while biting not to lose her identity in Hollyweird.
