Patrick talks about his transition from sciences to music.

Next BPM with Carlos Huizar is a show that focuses on dancers and the local dancer scene. On this episode Carlos interviews Patrick Holmes, who is a DJ and recent CSUN graduate. Patrick discusses producing, DJing and managing talent in today’s dance music scene. As an expert in dance music promo, DJ Patrick has a few promotional tricks up his sleeve for up and coming dance music artists that he shares with us in this exciting conversation. Moreover, there is no denying that professional DJs make their job look easy, but it is no secret that professional Djing is far from simple! Accordingly, Patrick goes on to recommend DJ equipment for beginners and professionals including these Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX decks. Whether you are looking for new earphones, speakers, controllers, or lights, Patrick knows his stuff and is more than happy to share his recommendations. Above all, it is no secret that the equipment that a DJ uses can have a huge impact on the quality of music being played and produced and therefore Patrick talks about some of his favorite pieces of kit. Furthermore, Patrick even shares his thoughts on the notion that DJing is learned in public. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that DJs learn by discovering what is really important to their audience and adapting their setlists to suit. Correspondingly, he talks about his experiences working with different producers at Matrix Sessions in Studio City. Patrick talks about his transition from sciences at CSUN into music, and how he started as an intern. He also mentions how Matrix session is more of a mentorship than a music school, and how much easier it is for him to express his ideas in the studio.
