Family Tree – Mexican in America

On Family Tree on 9/8/2010 Margarita “Maggie” Murga was our guest. Maggie was born and grew up in Southern Mexico, before relocating to the US when she was 21 years old. Maggie is very happy to be here. She has gone through all the proper procedures and has gained US citizenship. Her family still lives in Southern Mexico, and she and her siblings actively support their retired parents. Maggie says she was raised in poverty, yet her favorite childhood memory involves the river where she and her family would spend a lot of time together. Mom would do the laundry in the river, Dad would fish for their supper and Maggie and her brother, sister and their friends would play in and around the river. That being said, there is a lot more about her family history that Maggie would like to discover. For example, she would love to be able to look through census records and obituary archives from the 1930s to find out more about her ancestors. Maggie has always been interested in genealogy and would like to learn about her lineage and family history. Maggie is also concerned about the vicious cycle of violence that racks all of Mexico now, due to drugs and the warring drug lords. She enjoys the freedom and safety in the United States. If she ever strikes it rich she plans to visit all the landmarks of Mexico someday. For now when she goes there she is content to visit with her family. If ever president Maggie would work to improve conditions for the poor and working classes and reduce burdens on small businesses.
