Thomas talked about why he likens the government to a broken sausage maker, why he decided to publish the book, and his future plans.

This week’s episode of “In the Know” features Don Sparks, a Pierce College physics instructor. He is also the president of the Pierce chapter of the American Federation of Teachers. He talks briefly about his responsibilities as a leader for the union, but focuses mostly on a campaign project that the union is currently organizing. A number of AFT’s interns will be going around classrooms in Pierce to recruit voters for the upcoming November elections. The interns will also be talking about Proposition 30 and 32, and their effects on the community college budget.

For the premiere program of “In the Know,” I spoke with Denise Robb, a political science professor at Pierce College. She, along with a few professors and student clubs on campus, are organizing “Days of Political Science” in conjunction with the upcoming November elections. On Sept. 27, the campus will host representatives from the different political parties in the running for the presidency position; on Oct. 11, on the other hand, both Brad Sherman and Howard Berman–candidates for the 30th California congressional district–will be coming on campus to debate different propositions from 4 to 5 p.m.
