Encuentro Latino – Episode 1

The main topic for today’s show was Education. We talked about benefits and challenges. We also talked about the Latin American Club. Which we are all members of.

Spotlight – Donna Accardo

In this episode of Spotlight, Pierce College professor of English Donna Accardo appears as a guest to discuss her role in an upcoming production of Jovanka Bach’s “Nightsong for the Boatman” at the Odyssey Theatre. Donna discusses her motivations as an actor, as well as balancing a family with an acting career.

Since 1972 Ballet Folklorico Ollin has been preserving the regional cultures of Mexico through dance. Javier Francisco Verdin the co-director of the professional dance company and non-profit organization visited the program to speak about it’s founding. He expressed pride in having shared the stage with prominent Grammy Award winning Mexican artists like Linda Ronstadt and Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano. Javier stressed that dance classes at Las Palmas Park in San Fernando are open to the public and participating in them no matter what ethnicity you are would increase the understanding of Mexican culture.
