The Canoga Park Hunters prepare for one of the most jaw dropping plays against the El Camino Conquistadors.
KPCRadio.com member Ethan “The Voice of the Brahmas” Hanson and Canoga Park football player, Scott Jones, joined host Jennifer Gonzalez in the studio to discuss the unexpected brawl between two rival schools in the West San Fernando Valley. With a final score of 36 – 34, El Camino won the game against the Hunters. Unexpectedly, after the game, the outraged players found themselves in the mist of a brawl against each other.

Holler KPCRadio.com listeners! Today, featured on the first episode of “Culture Shock” is Pierce College junior, Christine Tran. Christine and I discussed the study of culture as she is currently enrolled in cultural anthropology at Pierce. We exchanged views on the significance of culture and diversity in one’s life and how it results in unity and respect. As I explained some of the cultural self-expression outlets that will be featured on “Culture Shock” each week, Christine shared her first hand experience at each of these places. She is a culture seeker who broadens her horizons through discovering underground music venues, live art performances, privately run cafés/coffee shops, vintage clothing shops, as well as all other forms of art. Some of the San Fernando Valley cultural gems mentioned in today’s interview include: the Cobalt Café, the California Institute of Abnormalarts, and Aroma Café. These fascinating places all have a great history behind them. Stay tuned to hear more on “Culture Shock” each week! Photographs will be attainable on KPCRadio.com, until you get to venture out and see for yourself! Tune in to hear myself, Krista Blore, each Tuesday live from 12:00-1:00 p.m. You’ve been Culture-Shocked!

Each year in Los Angeles County approximately 1400 foster youth “age out” of the foster care system. Many of these young adults are ill equipped to support themselves and navigate being on their own. In an effort to assist these young adults, the Southern California Foster Family Adoption Agency (SCFFAA) created the Foster Youth Alumni (FYA) Co-Mentoring Project, a program that puts willing, supportive and committed adults together with transitioning young adults. This innovative program provides mentoring in a non-traditional way, offering a “family style” experience whereby both the young adults, and the adult co-mentors benefit from working together. Lianne Goldsmith, Program Director of the FYA Co-Mentoring Project spoke about her program, and how individuals can get involved.
