Today on Family Tree we visited with Pierce student Pelu Adeleke (A del EEE kee) from Nigeria. Pelu moved to the US with her father at the age of 14. She has fond memories of the Nigerian holiday Childrens’ Day, celebrated on May 27 with a big parade and lots of goodies to eat. She also misses her mom and siblings who remain there.
One of her favorite dishes from Nigeria is a fried rice dish with vegatables. Nigeria is in central Africa. It is one of the most populated countries of Africa, with over 100 different cultures and dialects. She says the heat in the summer is alot like what we experienced this past Monday in Woodland Hills, and although it’s very rare to see snow there, it does get quite cold in winter-time.
Pelu looks forward to celebrating her 18th birthday this week end by visiting a Hollywood strip club with her friends. She plans to transfer to a Cal State University and finish her college degree in Business Administration by the age of 20. Pelu plans to use her skills to develop a real estate career.
