Farsi Show goes around the city to be a bridge between you and the cultural, literature, and arts events. One of greats of our time, Manouchehr Kohen is a distinguished Iranian-Jewish engineer. He was responsible for the engineering of cities, modern hospitals, and many mosques and synagogues in Iran. Kohen’s valuable services in literature, art, and engineering in our country have touched the lives of many. He welcomed Hengame into his private library in Bel Air and shared his story with Farsi Show listeners . He revealed to us how, despite a death sentence, he was released from prison with an experience that could be called miraculous. Kohen tells  the story of his first meeting with Mohammad Reza, Shah Pahlavi, and receiving his first award from the hands of the Shah. Kohan also shared some of his lyrics with Farsi Show listeners. Shohreh is acting in two different roles in a radio drama. In this play, Hengame Abassi is the narrator. The play is called Butterfly and is one of the first dramas written by Reza Mavedat.  The story is about a young artist couple and their complexities of everyday life, as well as childhoods complexes. UCLA hosted a screening Lady Of The Roses, a moving documentary about the Lady (Shahindokht Sanati) who replaced poppies with roses, and opium with rose water, and took this so far as transforming the agricultural destiny of whole region. The story is told by Houmayoun Sanati, her spouse. Homayoun is the founder of Franklin Publishing, Offset Printing House, Pars Paper Co. and owner and manager of an orphanage in Kerman, and who, as a whole, is considered a one of kind figure in Iran’s culture, industry and history.
In this episode of the Farsi Show you are hearing his voice, his story, and his poetry. You also are witnessing Mojtaba Mirtahmasb: documentary filmmaker, researcher, director and writer of this documentary. Mojtaba came from Iran, to answers the audience questions about himself, the inspiration for his movie and documentary personages.Executive producer Zahra Dowlatabadi, Homayoun’s niece, speaks on family memories.

The Farsi Show with Hengame Abassi is a show that focuses on the local Farsi-speaking community. This season carries a theme: the immigration story. The story of defeat and victory, joy and sorrow, hardship and achievement. This episode is recorded in West Los Angeles’ Iranian Art and Culture House (خانه فرهنگ و هنر ايران). Elham, the musical artist playing this event’s sold-out concert, balances being a student at Pierce College as well as being a professional singer, in addition to an upcoming album release. A wide variety of artists and celebrities are present, including popular composer J. Pasoki- the turning point of event- also and well-loved musician Fakhri Khorvash. Hengame interviews some of the artists and Pierce college students present- professional singer and Pierce College student Faryar, who discusses classmates, Elham and the day’s events. Event MC Mahnaz Dosti, and event decorator plus Pierce college student Parisa Hafezi are also featured to share their feelings and opinions about the event for kpcradio.com.

Hengame will be asking Dr. Azim about how students can prevent back and neck pain, everyday posture, sports, nutrition and more. Dr. Azim will also discuss her success story as a mother, wife, and independent lady in Iranian and American society.

Musician-journalist-professor power couple Hamsafaran join Hengame in the studio

The Farsi Show with Hengame Abassi is a show that focuses on the local Farsi-speaking community. Leila Mohammadi and Behnam Ziaie are a husband-and-wife team that make the band Hamsafaran. Hengame asks them all about their passions- from their music and professions, to their lives and love. Hamsafaran’s first album will be released this summer, featuring original songs inspired by poetry by Rumi, Shamlou, Akhvan-sales, Moshiri and Sheida Mohammadi. Aside from making music, Leila and Behnam have strong histories in other fields. Leila is a journalist and worked with Channel Four in London, BBC UK, 670 AM and Andisheh TV in Los Angeles. Behnam has taught and researched mathematics at various universities, including UCLA, CSUN, Pierce College and DeVry. Leila also has a degree in applied mathematics and informatics, so Hengame asks them also about the differences and similarities between math and music. From Persian classical music to the band’s insight on three mystical songs, exclusive for The Farsi Show.

The Farsi Show with Hengame Abassi is a show that focuses on the local Farsi-speaking community. On this episode, Hengame interviews Abdolreza Rastegarrazi and Amirmohsen Salmanizadeh. Abdolreza is a member of the Iranian National Driver Team, and received third place in an international championship in 2002. Abdolreza is also a human rights activist, editor, writer, photographer, and owner of Iranian news paper Mehr E Iran. News paper is in both the English and Farsi language.  Amirmohsen is a film director, professor of  photography,  and a music video producer. He has won many prizes in film, editing, and advertisement.
