The Philosopher’s Cabaret

The Philosopher’s Cabaret, presented by the Pierce College Philosophy Department, is taking place next week on Dec. 7! The theme for this semester is—Life is a Cabaret! The Philosopher’s Cabaret Explores the Meaning of Life.

All Pierce students are encouraged to participate or attend—it starts at 3:30 p.m. in Building 600, with a reception immediately following. There will be music to open and close the cabaret, a special guest host to perform throughout, refreshments and a DJ after the show.

Pierce students celebrate philosophy with this mixed media event that combines digital video, live spoken word, visual art, and live performance while highlighting the creative exploration of philosophical ideas.

Students will create and present performances (up to four minutes) centered on the existential theme “Life is a Cabaret!” With this theme, the cabaret will explore ideas related to the meaning of life or lack thereof.

Performances include original songs, skits, monologues, videos, poetry, dance, performance art, etc. Students may also create artworks that reflect the theme to be displayed in the Great Hall. There will be an opportunity to participate in a group art project throughout the evening.

If you need an accommodation due to a disability to participate in this event, please contact mcquitm@piercecollege.edu at least 5 days in advance.

Brahmas! If you’d like to participate in performance or art for The Philosopher’s Cabaret, please email mcquitm@piercecollege.edu by Friday, Dec. 1.
