In this segment Emmanuel Arias focuses on the LAPD Cadet program. LAPD Sergeant Jessie Oheda discusses the benefits of becoming a Cadet, and talks about some of the activities the youth perform.

Officer John Meadrid who is the Foothill Division’s Youth Services Officer explains that the program is aimed toward teaching leadership skills to 13 to 20 year old youth. He also shares that he enjoys seeing the growth in the confidence levels of each Cadet. Corporal Erick Estrata talks about the focus of the program, the course length, as well as his Cadet leadership duties. Corporal Ada Geuping, who is a Cadet recruit trainer talks about some of the daily exercises the Cadets perform.

Sergeant Darla Cozarelli talks about her role in public relations, and shares some of the other Cadet programs offered to the community. Captain Julio Meza dicusses his responsibilities and a Cadet platoon leader, his desire to assist other teenagers, and he encourages all youth to join the program.

In this segment Malena Fuentes focuses on art education in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Patricia Torres-McLeod, who teaches art at Grant High School shares her love for children, and how her teaching process is a product of that emotion. Evelyn Serrano, who is the arts integration coordinator at LFCSA mentions that the Arts is an academic discipline, and that she believes that it is a integral part of education process.

Steve J. McCarthy, PhD. is the K-12 arts coordinator of the Arts Branch at LAUSD. Steve agrees that visual and performing arts is part of the core standards, and that creativity is currently essential for working in all industries. Grant High art student Gustavo Fuentes talks about how Patricia Torres-McLeod originally encouraged him to try art, and how the decision has helped him choose a path for his future. Emily Aslan, another art student at Grant explains how Torres-McLeod sees potential in her students, and motivate them to achieve success.

Suzanne Isken, who is the executive director talks about her experiences as a board member, and the direction of the museum’s focus for future gallery exhibitions. The manager of exhibitions and communications Sasha Ali shares some of the education programs, which are open to the public. She also talks about her responsibilities, and how the staff chooses the art for each show. Designer and social media manager Michelle Cho talks about how she designs the print, web and marketing materials.

Sonia Mak-Shahbazi, who is the Development manager discusses how she is responsible for grant writing and fundraising. Exhibitions curator Holly Jerger mentions that the museum is small, and the staff wears many hats. She also talks about the upcoming shows soon be held in the museums gallery.

Juan Eric Arias, who is an amateur boxer at the gym talks about how the boxing is more than a hobby, and how the boxing club is more like a family. Trainer Gabriel Rivas mentions that he became a trainer because because he didn’t want to compete, and that he realized his passion for teaching. He also discusses his training techniques and style.

Professional fighter Nick Arce talks about how he started training as a youth, and how it lead to a career in boxing. Robert Arce shares how he supports his brother Nick’s career. Gabriel Avila is a boxing fan that says he still enjoys boxing, although the popularity of has declined due to the rise of Mixed Martial Arts.
