Local Voices with Isela Gonzalez is a show that focuses on mental health in our community.  On this episode Isela interviews Tristan who represents the organization Painted Brain, which is an organization that works with adult mental health patients. He shares his personal experience with being hospitalized for schizophrenia, and now working with the community through his organization. He mentions that the program offers free classes on songwriting, social media, theatre, art, etc. Tristan also shares that it is open to all adults and is totally free.

On this episode Isela interviews Julio Celada from the County Department of Mental Health. Julio discusses the importance of support groups, and his position supervising mental health groups for Spanish speakers. He explains that the program is free to Los Angeles County residents. Julio talks about the different diagnosis of mental health, such as stress, depression and even schizophrenia. He says that the program also has groups for all members of the family, and he mentions that he has worked for the County of Los Angeles for 10 years.

On this episode Malena talks about Salud Mental (Mental Health) with Ana Belén Vega-Woller, who is the former Vice President of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Ana talks about her struggles after caregiving for her mother, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia. She discusses how NAMI helped her understand how to cope with her anger and anxiety. She also explains the NAMI program on Campus for College students, and how these groups offer help to understand and give students guidance.
