Poet Kim Nguyen explains the importance of poetry in her life, an how it allows her to express her point of view. She also talks about the challenges of competing as a poet. Alicia Langston, who started a poetry club at San Francisco State University talks about the open mic poetry community, and her experiences with events and workshops.

Sarina Sity, who frequently attends open mic events mentions that she connects with how the writers express their experiences. She also talks about how poetry helps her relate to the author. Elizabeth Jackson, who is a regular open mic performer shares that the poetry community is inviting, and being a member has helped her overcome her fears. Ashton Jackson, Elizabeth’s brother says that he is proud that his sister has found a way to open up and express her thoughts.

In this segment Stephen Nicholson focuses on the Pierce College Theatre Department. Michael Sande, who is the managing director talks about how much he loves theatre arts, and says that he came to Pierce to share this passion by working with students.

Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Shaheen Vaaz-Chamarbagwala explains about how she transitioned from acting to teaching. She also shares a few tips on acting. Stage technician Edward Salas talks about his duties, and he shares his view about theatre and performance art. Leah Foster, who is a model and makeup artist mentions the challenges and rewards of performing arts, and talks about the professionalism of the faculty and production staff.

Andisheh of the Child Foundation joined Hengame in the studio.

The Farsi Show with Hengame Abassi is a show that focuses on the local Farsi-speaking community. On this episode, Hengame is joined by Andisheh Tadayon, who works with Child Foundation. Hengame will ask about her position in many charity events, including International Children’s Day, and the event that Andisheh and Dr. Peyman Raofi president of International  Child Foundation organized and invited the UNICEF representative in this event which was in Calabasas state library. They will also discuss the Child Foundation’s role in the Midnight Mission, a program helping the homeless in downtown Los Angeles. Andisheh is also a writer, and discusses her upcoming book From Railway to Los Angeles, sharing also narration published in KRIN 670 am with Farsi Show listeners. In this segment DeShawn Cavanaugh focuses on Tempest Freerunning Academy, which is a local athletic club for all ages. GianCarlo Gomez, who is a member of the parkour program talks about how he started training at Tempest Academy.

Samjay Daniels , who is a one of the club’s coaches talks about the different ages that he coaches, and how long he has been training parkour. He also mentions that the biggest challenge is fear. Dane August, who is a new to parkour training talks about the dangers of the sport. Lisa Castro, who is the parent of a Freerunning Academy member talks about the benefits of having her child in the program. Inessa Konvucksa explains how she was inspired to start training parkour from watching YouTube videos.

In this segment Emmanuel Arias focuses on the LAPD Cadet program. LAPD Sergeant Jessie Oheda discusses the benefits of becoming a Cadet, and talks about some of the activities the youth perform.

Officer John Meadrid who is the Foothill Division’s Youth Services Officer explains that the program is aimed toward teaching leadership skills to 13 to 20 year old youth. He also shares that he enjoys seeing the growth in the confidence levels of each Cadet. Corporal Erick Estrata talks about the focus of the program, the course length, as well as his Cadet leadership duties. Corporal Ada Geuping, who is a Cadet recruit trainer talks about some of the daily exercises the Cadets perform.

Sergeant Darla Cozarelli talks about her role in public relations, and shares some of the other Cadet programs offered to the community. Captain Julio Meza dicusses his responsibilities and a Cadet platoon leader, his desire to assist other teenagers, and he encourages all youth to join the program.
