Gay Rights Activist Shervin Khorramian
On today’s episode of “The Farsi Show” Hengame Abassi interviews Shervin Khorramian, a gay rights activist who was one of the main organizers of the “Out of Iran & Out of closet an LGBTQ” event. Khorramian was born in Germany in 1970. He moved a few years later to Iran and by Age 8 he was living in the U.S. Khorramian then went back to live in Germany, where he came out and discovered what it feels to live a real life. Eventually Khorramian graduated with a B.S. in Physics with a concentration in Physical Biochemistry from UCLA. He received his CPA license, and championed the gay rights movement. In his own words “So glad I showed up early in 1970”.

The Iranian music instructor Nava Emami 34 with a B.A. in political science, an M.A. in international relations, and is also an Athlete in karate. Mehdi Aligholi who has a B.A. in music is also a music instructor for master classes.

Farsi Show goes around the city to be a bridge between you and the cultural, literature, and arts events. One of greats of our time, Manouchehr Kohen is a distinguished Iranian-Jewish engineer. He was responsible for the engineering of cities, modern hospitals, and many mosques and synagogues in Iran. Kohen’s valuable services in literature, art, and engineering in our country have touched the lives of many. He welcomed Hengame into his private library in Bel Air and shared his story with Farsi Show listeners . He revealed to us how, despite a death sentence, he was released from prison with an experience that could be called miraculous. Kohen tells the story of his first meeting with Mohammad Reza, Shah Pahlavi, and receiving his first award from the hands of the Shah. Kohan also shared some of his lyrics with Farsi Show listeners. Shohreh is acting in two different roles in a radio drama. In this play, Hengame Abassi is the narrator. The play is called Butterfly and is one of the first dramas written by Reza Mavedat. The story is about a young artist couple and their complexities of everyday life, as well as childhoods complexes. Tune in for the whole show.

An artist couple, a teacher couple, and an active couple make these two musicians a very special duo. Arezo Kouchakan is a music instructor in a Los Angeles music school, as well as founder and leader of Ladies’ Daff Group. Ladies’ Daff Group had its first performance with the Iranian super star AREF in the Dolby Theater, and in recently in Canada. Arezo will play Daff for Farsi show listeners, and discuss her experience on stage with one of the biggest Iranian pop singers. Vandad Massehzadeh a proprietor and director of Melody Kohen Music school, Director of Artists Home Music, and director and conductor of Koban group. Former music instructor in music school in Iran. Vandad had more than 300 performance in Iran and around the world. He will share his opinion about Iranian classic and folklore music and plays live for our listeners. Vandad is author of two books about music instruments.
